Puerto Viejo

I was surprised that the beaches in Puerto Viejo are not as pretty as those in Mexico. I thought that the water would be as blue and clear as they are on the Carribean side of Mexico, but we have not found that yet. There is definitely more of a Jamaican flavor on this side versus the other parts of Costa Rica. The prices seem to be similar to the States for food anyway. Although if you were in a resort town in the States the prices would be higher. Unfortunately, for a lot of the day it rained. Our $5 ponchos have paid off.
